On Prisoners’ Day, a day dedicated to global action demanding justice and freedom for prisoners held by Israel, activists around the world gathered to call for an end to the detention of political prisoners in Israeli jails. Over 10,000 individuals are being held without trial, and many victims have testified to enduring inhumane treatment. In New York City, on Wall Street, on April 17, 2025, at 3 PM, a large crowd assembled to show solidarity with these prisoners and their families.
The protest was led by pro-Palestinian organizations associated with the “Within Our Lifetime” movement. Anti-Zionist Jews attended in solidarity as well. As usual, Zionist agitators attempted to disrupt the peaceful demonstration but were met with resistance from anti-Zionist Jews who chanted against them: “Zionist terrorists, shame on you! You are a Zionist, not a Jew!”
Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss and Rabbi Dovid Feldman, who were present at the protest, delivered powerful statements. They declared that Palestine has witnessed years of injustice and demanded an end to the entire occupation of Palestine. The rabbis called on the world to remember the era of peace that existed prior to the rise of the Zionist movement. They emphasized that the only path to lasting peace is the removal of this rebellion against God and an end to the occupation of Palestine.
A banner held at the protest read: Bring Them Home! Release the political prisoners from Israeli prisons.
