Speech by Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss from
Neturei Karta International, Jews United Against Zionism,
at the Parliament of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on July 2nd, 2025
With the help of the Almighty,
Greetings – Saudações – A sallam aleekam –
I pray to the Almighty to bestow upon me His truth and His wisdom, that I may be worthy of conveying His message and so sanctify His name and bring peace to the world. Amen.
I am humbled and privileged to be given this great honor to address the distinguished parliament of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
I am here representing the voice of the Jews around the world who are true to the Almighty and His Torah, the Jewish religion, from AL-Quds Jerusalem, throughout Europe, UK, USA, South America, Australia etc.
First, I would like to thank the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, His Excellency Lula da Silva, also the President of the Chamber of Deputies, His Excellency Mr. Hugo Motta, and the other members of parliament, for hosting this critical gathering and for inviting me to address this august gathering.
Also, I would like to greet the ambassador of the State of Palestine to Brazil, His Excellency Ibrahim Zeben, Father João Paulo Araujo Gomes, Dr. Ahmed Shehada and all the other distinguished guests gathered here today.
May I state, in the name of the Jewish people, that we are extremely grateful to the country of Brazil for being the gracious host of the Jewish people for hundreds of years until the present. May the Almighty bless this great country, its leadership and its citizens with His boundless blessings.
Torah-true Jews worldwide are aghast, horrified and humiliated by the horrific oppression, torture and genocide being perpetrated in Gaza at this very moment, including attacks on other nations such as Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Iran, in the name of the Jewish religion and the Jewish people. Therefore it is critical and incumbent upon us to clarify the authentic religious Jewish stance regarding the 77 years of occupation of Palestine, the existence of the Zionist State of Israel and all the actions emanating from it.
Since the inception of Zionism in the late 19th century, religious Jewish leaders and their communities worldwide, including in Occupied Palestine, opposed the ideology of Zionism, the philosophy behind the State of Israel, opposed the creation of the State of Israel, and to the present day, condemn all of its atrocities.
According to the very basics of Jewish belief, Jews are forbidden to create their own sovereignty, since the Almighty placed them in exile, through the destruction of the Jewish temple 2000 years ago. The Jewish people are forbidden to end this Divine decree of exile by any physical means. Most certainly it is forbidden to create a sovereignty through occupying, stealing and killing. Jews are required by their religion to be loyal citizens and peaceful neighbors in whichever country they reside.
We are extremely grateful for the Muslim and Arab countries for embracing and providing a safe-haven and home for Jewish people throughout history. We well remember this peaceful coexistence among Arabs Muslims and Jews which existed for many centuries in all Arab and Muslim countries, including in Palestine; the difference in religion was not a reason for conflict. The Zionist occupation of Palestine is ultimately responsible for the ongoing tragic bloodshed today and for over the last 100 years, of both Arabs and Jews. Opposing the Zionist State of Israel is not anti-Jewish and not anti-semitic, rather the State of Israel is the personification and textbook definition of anti-semitism. The State of Israel, in addition to the catastrophe inflicted on the Palestinians, is the cause of hate and bloodshed towards Jews, because of its acting falsely on behalf of all Jews.
To end this never-ending cycle of bloodshed and tragedies, the rebellion against the Almighty and the colossal violation of the Jewish religion must end. Palestine must be returned to the Palestinians and the Zionist movement must cease. World leaders must act this moment to immediately end the genocide of Gaza and help bring a full end of the occupation.
We pray to the Almighty that this should happen speedily and peacefully, without anymore suffering to anyone. Int’shaala – at that time we can hope to see once again the restoration of the peace and tranquility that existed in Palestine, prior to the inception of Zionism.
One final and very important point – please never refer to the State of Israel as the “Jewish State” – that only helps to support and empower the State of Israel and its accusations of anti-semitism, please refer to it as the Zionist State and to the people that support it as Zionists, not “Jews.”
