Statement by Neturei Karta International condemning Israel’s war on Iran

Anti-Zionist Jews grieve with great sorrow and pain over Zionism and its provocation that brought about the tragic new war with Iran. This war was not unexpected; for years, Zionist leaders have campaigned for military action against Iran.

War criminal Benjamin Netanyahu visited President Trump multiple times to push for military action against Iran. At the same time, anti-Zionist Jews and their leaders issued numerous public statements urging President Trump to recognize that Israel — not Iran — is the danger to the world.

On behalf of anti-Zionist religious Jews worldwide, from the United States to Palestine, we hold Israel responsible for the death and destruction witnessed for decades, now intensified by the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with many military, political, and civilian victims. This constitutes yet another link in the long chain of ongoing Zionist violence in Palestine and beyond.

As a great deal of misinformation now circulates, we wish to clarify several points:

First: Iran is not an enemy of the Jewish people. Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that their opposition is directed at Zionist occupation, not at Judaism or at Jews living in Palestine or elsewhere. It is also notable that the Jewish community in Iran continues to live and practice its religion with recognized minority status and state protection.

Second: As Israel claims to act on behalf of all Jews and in the name of Judaism — and as some extremist settlers misuse religious concepts such as “Amalek” — we must clarify the authentic Jewish religious position. As religious Jews, we state that the State of Israel and Zionist actions constitute a grave violation of Judaism. Killing, stealing, occupying another people’s land, or waging wars against any nation is forbidden in Jewish law. The ideology of establishing Jewish sovereignty through force is antithetical to core Jewish beliefs, which teach that Jewish exile is a Divine decree and must not be ended by human coercion. Violating this principle is considered rebellion against the Divine will. Judaism requires Jews to live as loyal citizens and peaceful neighbors in the countries in which they reside, not to wage wars or dominate other peoples. Therefore, masses of Jews worldwide oppose the State of Israel and its criminal action. The State of Israel does not represent world Jewry or the Jewish religion.

Third: As fear and panic are being spread among Jewish communities to generate sympathy for Zionist policies, we must state clearly: We condemn the Zionist movement for extensive propaganda that misleads Jews into believing they are universally endangered and that Palestine or Iran is the enemy of the Jewish people. This misinformation has led many Jews to support policies and conflicts that are antithetical to Jewish teachings, endanger both Jews and others, and perpetuate violence rather than security.

Fourth: Israel claims to act in self-defense, presenting its actions as protecting the Jewish people. This claim must be challenged. Israel does not provide safety for Jews. On the contrary, it has undermined and destroyed the coexistence that existed in Palestine prior to the rise of Zionism. Neither Palestine nor Iran is inherently anti-Jewish; Jews lived within these societies for centuries. The occupation of Palestine and the creation of the State of Israel shattered this historic coexistence, and ongoing Zionist policies continue to fuel cycles of violence and bloodshed. Many lives have been taken by the Zionist regime, as we have witnessed the unimaginable genocide in Gaza, when Israel slaughtered men, women, and children.

As a result of sustaining this political project, many Jews have lost their lives over more than 77 years of conflict linked to the occupation. It must also be emphasized that anti-Zionist Jews living in Palestine/Israel face danger due to these policies and actions. Many continue to appeal to world leaders to recognize their voices and affirm that Jews in the Holy Land seek peace and totally reject continued occupation and aggression.

May God help bring peace throughout the region with no more human suffering, and ultimately reveal His glory to the whole world — a time when all humanity will serve Him together in peace and harmony.
