Nakba 78 Protests Marked in New York City and Worldwide

On May 15, 2026, as the world marked 78 years since the creation of the State of Israel — and the catastrophe for Palestinians began — major rallies and protests took place across the globe to commemorate Nakba 78.

Global demonstrations

People across continents were moved by the ongoing violence in recent years, including the Genocide in Gaza, the war in Lebanon, and the unprovoked war on Iran. participants said they were raising their voices against Zionism and its actions, linking current events to the historical context of the past 78 years.

A major rally took place in New York City on Friday afternoon at Washington Square Park, where thousands of people gathered. The protest was organized by Within Our Lifetime.

Anti-Zionist Jews also attended in solidarity, expressing opposition to Zionism from a Jewish perspective and to its endless crimes .

Rabbi Yitzchok Deutsch, speaking to Muslim TV, emphasized the importance of Jewish participation in Nakba 78 demonstrations to stand in solidarity with and mourn alongside the Palestinian people, stating that these actions are sadly being carried out in the name of their religion.
