On Monday, January 9, 2023, a delegation from Neturei Karta visited the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank to express solidarity with its residents, who are suffering from almost daily Israeli military attacks. The delegation voiced their opposition to the Zionist occupation and clarified that the State of Israel does not represent all Jews. The visit, which went viral, extended a hand of peace between Jews and Palestinians. However, this act provoked anger from Zionists, and they launched a campaign against the delegation.

Extreme settler Itamar Ben-Gvir, the new Minister of National Security in the extreme Zionist government, tweeted that these anti-Zionist Jews should be deported to Syria. The Zionists continued to threaten and harass the delegation until all members who participated in the visit to Jenin were finally arrested.

During their visit, the delegation was warmly received by Fatah Secretary General Ata Abu Rumeileh and other local residents. A spokesperson for the delegation said, “We are Palestinian Jews. We want to live under the Palestinian flag, not the Israeli one, in one state, which is the Palestinian state.”

He added, “Hundreds of years ago, before the occupation, we lived together in the old town of Jerusalem. There was no mistrust between Jews and Muslims. We lived happily together, and later, the Zionists came and created pressure to separate us. But we reject that. We want peace, not the racist Israeli laws that pose a threat to our lives, Jews and Muslims alike. No matter how much time passes, we will continue to adhere to our dream and common goals. We want Palestine with its capital, Jerusalem, under Palestinian rule so we can live happily.”

The spokesperson concluded by reaffirming, “The existence of the Zionist occupation of Palestine and all its criminal actions are in total violation of Jewish law. The Zionists do not represent the Jewish people.”

Ata Abu Rumeileh welcomed the delegation and praised their stance and sincere solidarity with Palestine. “They entered the camp raising the Palestinian flag, carrying a message of solidarity: ‘We are with you against killing, occupation, and settlement, and for the Palestinian state.’ We believe in peace, and they, too, believe in peace and living together with total respect, where every person has their rights and freedoms,” he added.

Also present at the meeting was Maher al-Akhras, who had been in Israeli administrative detention and was released without charge on November 26, 2020, after a 103-day hunger strike. Al-Akhras thanked the delegation for their visit, which carried an important message of peace at a time when the aggression and threats from the settler government are escalating.

He added, “We praise the anti-Zionist community for their stance. Their sons lived in Palestine before the Nakba. They were abandoned as we were, and, like us, they became refugees and suffered the same torment we endure from the occupation.”.
