On April 30, 2026, students and activists in New York City gathered to mark two years since the raid on Hind’s Hall at Columbia University. The rally commemorated the anniversary of the 2024 encampment movement, when students across campuses worldwide established protest encampments during the Zionist Genocide in Gaza.

Participants assembled once again to reaffirm their commitment to solidarity with Gaza and Lebanon, and to protest Zionism and the ongoing actions of Zionism. Speakers reflected on the events of two years ago, when student encampments spread globally and were met with criticism, accusations of antisemitism, and , police crackdowns that led to arrests.

From Campus Protest to Citywide March

After gathering at Columbia University, demonstrators marched through the city toward the City University of New York (CUNY), continuing their protest beyond campus grounds. The march symbolized the continued growth of the movement, with participants emphasizing that student activism has only strengthened since the events of 2024.

Growing Movement and Continued Activism

Organizers and attendees described the rally as part of an expanding movement that continues to gain momentum. Among those present were anti-Zionist Jewish participants who joined the protest to voice opposition to Zionism and to stand in solidarity with Palestinians.

Two years after the original encampments, demonstrators framed the event as both a remembrance and a renewed call to action, highlighting a movement that is becoming more organized and more determined over time.
