A joint press conference of Jewish and Palestinian organizations will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 4 PM, in front of the United Nations building in New York City (1st Ave and 43rd St.), to demand that the State of Israel immediately release the Jewish political prisoner Rabbi Simon Roth, who was arrested for his peaceful activism in support of Palestine and opposition to the Zionist occupation.

In a noble display of how peaceful coexistence can look, Rabbi Simon Roth and his colleagues, members of the Jerusalem branch of the anti-Zionist organization Neturei Karta, visited the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank on January 9 to show solidarity with the suffering Palestinians and opposition to the ongoing crimes against them.

“Zionism has no connection with Judaism. Zionism merely uses Judaism as a vehicle to achieve its goals. Traditional Jews who believe in the Torah have no part in the Zionist conquest and occupation. The state is completely forbidden according to Torah law,” said Rabbi Simon during his visit.

The Jewish delegation was warmly welcomed by the residents of the refugee camp, who expressed their respect for the stance of the delegation and saluted their message of solidarity. Fatah Secretary General in Jenin, Mr. Ata Abu Rumeileh, said: “Their visit to the Camp is deeply symbolic to us. We are not against Judaism. We are Muslim; we embrace Judaism.” He continued: “We believe in peace, and they too believe in peace and believe in living together in total respect, with every person having their rights and freedoms.”

Days later, members of the delegation were arrested. As it turned out, the order came from National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, a leading member of the new extreme right-wing Israeli government, who has a history of hostility towards the anti-Zionist community.

This comes amid a campaign by Ben-Gvir to escalate the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by promoting Jewish visits to Al-Aqsa, which is known to Jews as the Temple Mount. He has also instructed police to put a stop to the public display of Palestinian flags.

Clearly, Ben-Gvir and his fellow Zionists cannot tolerate the NK delegation, because this meeting in Jenin made a statement that Palestinians and Jews can coexist in peace in a free Palestine and that a state of Israel is not necessary.

“In addition to the decades of oppression of Palestinian people, Israel has taken evil to a new level with their current aim to suppress the voices of peace within the Jewish community,” said Rabbi Meir Hirsch, leader of the Jerusalem NK community.

We plead with the world’s nations to speak up for the oppressed people of Palestine, including the anti-Zionist Jews, and to pressure the Israeli regime to release all Palestinian political prisoners, including Jewish anti-Zionists.
