Tens of Thousands Flood NYC Protesting One Year of Genocide

Tens of thousands gathered in NYC on October 7, 2024, to flood the streets in solidarity with Gaza. Organized by Within Our Lifetime and endorsed by many other organizations, the protest marked one year of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza—the most horrific slaughter in modern history, broadcast live on social media.

With unimaginable scenes emerging daily from Gaza, and more recently from Lebanon, people of conscience came out in masses. Thousands took time off from work, and students walked out of schools and universities across the city.

The protest began at Wall Street at 1 p.m. and marched through the city, covering a large part of Manhattan. Protesters demanded an end to the violence and the 76-year-long occupation of Palestine.

At the protest, a large Palestinian flag was held high to show a strong commitment to the liberation of Palestine.

Anti-Zionist Jews also participated in the protest and march.

At one point, after many attempts at intimidation, a Zionist woman attacked a group of anti-Zionist Jews, spitting on them in an attempt to silence their voice. The NYPD arrested the woman, but major media outlets present at the moment did not report it, likely to serve Zionist interests.

“After a full year of standing in solidarity and expressing our pain with Palestine, we will continue to show up and so no to Zionism and their actions,” said Rabbi Dovid Feldman, who participated with the group of anti-Zionist Jews.
