Thousands March in NYC on Palestinian Prisoners’ Day 2026

On Friday, April 17, 2026, thousands of people marched in New York City on Prisoners’ Day. This day was internationally recognized, with protests taking place in many different locations around the world to highlight the issue of the Palestinian political prisoners.

Demonstrators gathered in NYC to protest Israel’s policies toward Palestinian political prisoners, expressing outrage over the escalating repression. Participants also raised concerns about recent developments, including new legislation that will allow the execution of political prisoners.

The protest called for greater international attention to the treatment of Palestinian prisoners and broader criticism of Israeli state policies.

Organized by Within Our Lifetime

The demonstration was organized by Within Our Lifetime, taking place just weeks after an alleged Zionist-linked arrest involving a plot targeting Nerdeen Kiswani, a well-known Palestinian-American activist, organizer, and co-founder and chair of Within Our Lifetime. Organizers said the march sent a strong message that intimidation would not silence voices advocating for Palestinian rights.

Participation of Anti-Zionist Jewish Voices

Anti-Zionist Jewish participants also took part in the protest, emphasizing that these actions are not carried out in the name of the Jewish people or the Jewish religion, but rather represent political decisions of the Zionist state.

Rabbi Yitzchok Deutsch addressed comments directed at Itamar Ben Gvir, criticizing the misuse of Jewish teachings to justify Zionism and their actions. He accused Ben Gvir of misrepresenting religious values in order to legitimize policies and violence.

He further stated:
“If we do not stand up for the prisoners in Palestine, Zionist terror will reach us also in NYC.”

March Through Manhattan

The protest began outside the Israeli Embassy at 42nd Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan. After a series of speeches, the crowd marched through the streets, passing several major locations in the city.

Thousands of participants filled the streets, voicing their outrage loudly and clearly as they continued the march across New York City.
