At the Celebration of NYC’s New Mayor Zohran Mamdani — Orthodox Jews Speak for Justice

On Thursday night, November 4, 2025, a historic moment took place in the history of New York City and the United States when Zohran Mamdani won the mayoral election. He became the youngest person ever to hold such a high office at just 34 years old, and also the first Muslim to be elected to this prestigious position.

However, in the days leading up to the election, Zionist intimidation and harassment intensified. Much of this hostility came from Zionist agitators who could not tolerate a candidate who openly stood up for Palestine with courage and conviction. Throughout the past two years of the genocide in Gaza, Mamdani consistently spoke out for justice and truth.

Mamdani also refused to accept any money from the AIPAC lobby in order to remain independent and principled in his stance.

Anti-Zionist Jews took every opportunity to denounce the Zionist harassment directed at Mr. Mamdani — through statements, press conferences at City Hall, and other community activities. Another powerful moment came during the celebration night, when anti-Zionist Jews gathered outside the Brooklyn Paramount Theatre in downtown Brooklyn.

The main banner read:

“Congratulations to Zohran Mamdani and to New York City. Zohran Mamdani won the election with 0% #AIPAC funding. May he govern with success and please Almighty G-d.”

Several rabbis addressed the media, highlighting important points about the voting system and Zionism in general. In one of the videos, Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss was asked whether he felt that Mamdani posed any danger or threat to the Jewish community. Rabbi Weiss responded clearly, stating that such accusations were pure Zionist propaganda, emphasizing that anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism.
