As in other major cities around the world, the people of New York City have answered the call following urgent demands emerging from Gaza. Activists are now mobilizing for a Global Day of Action on April 25th, urging world leaders to intervene and stop what they describe as Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.
On Friday afternoon, hundreds gathered in Herald Square, NYC, to protest the escalating suffering of the population in Gaza. Demonstrators demanded immediate action from global leaders to end the violence. Speakers from various organizations addressed the crowd, amplifying the voices of those standing in solidarity with Gaza and Palestine. Following the speeches, the protesters marched through Manhattan, stopping at several landmarks and significant locations across the city. Their chants echoed loudly and clearly, underscoring their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
Anti-Zionist Jews participated in the protest, demonstrating unity with pro-Palestinian activists. This event occurred just one day after anti-Zionist Jews and pro-Palestinian protesters were physically attacked by Zionist supporters during a demonstration against the appearance of far-right Israeli minister Ben Gvir in Crown Heights.
Rabbi Joseph Kohn, who attended the protest, delivered a powerful message: “We will not back down. We will continue to stand up for #Palestine until Palestine is free.”
Rabbi Kohn added that the genocide in gaze is unexpectable for us and we can not remain silent while this is taking place in front of our eyes .
