Protesting Israel Independence Day in Hoboken, NJ

On Sunday morning, May 11, 2025, while a celebration marking Israel’s 77th Independence Day took place in Hoboken, New Jersey, a group of activists and anti-Zionist Jews gathered to voice their opposition. The protest aimed to highlight that there is nothing to celebrate when it comes to the establishment of the State of Israel, particularly in light of the ongoing crimes committed under the banner of Zionism.

The demonstration was held directly across the street from the entrance to the event. Protesters stood firm, with powerful chants and banners denouncing the celebration. Their message was clear: they stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and condemn Zionism and the crimes committed by them.

Protesters emphasized that these dire conditions are a direct result of decades of systemic oppression and military aggression, which are intrinsic to the Zionist project.

Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss in a interview spoke out against this celebration of the 77th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel, Rabbi Weiss made clear the Jewish opposition to Zionism and condemned its crimes in Gaza and its treatment of Palestinians in general.
