Anti-Zionist Rabbis Visit Jewish Community in Tehran

While a delegation of Neturei Karta attended the “Consultative Conference on Palestine” on December 23, 2023, in Tehran, they also made a visit on December 24 to the Jewish community in the synagogue in Central Tehran. During their visit, they met with the Chief Rabbi of Iran, Yehuda Gerami, and the community members. During the meeting, the Chief Rabbi said, “Our government highly respects the Jewish community, and we enjoy full religious freedom.”

The synagogue is one of many synagogues and community buildings that serve Iran’s thriving Jewish community. One of the synagogues is currently undergoing renovation and is expected to reopen in the coming months. The rabbis used the synagogue and Mikveh during their visit.

After going to the Mikveh, the visiting rabbis were welcomed by students outside the Jewish school in Tehran. “Jewish life in Iran goes back more than 2,000 years,” one of the students said, referring to their rich culture and history in Iran.

Iran is home to the largest Jewish community in the region. “You are living proof of how Jews can live peacefully under a Muslim government, as we have for centuries,” said Rabbi Feldman.
