National SJP’s Day of Action was held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, in Manhattan, as the world approaches nearly one year of genocide in Gaza. Schools across downtown NYC collaborated to highlight the citywide struggle for Palestinian freedom and delivered an important message to demand divestment from Israel.
The school-wide rally began at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) on 27th Street and 8th Ave at 12 p.m., where the crowd chanted in support of Palestine. The march continued to the School of Visual Arts (SVA) on 21st Street and 3rd Ave, where the group met with students from the second school. After chanting and picketing around the school, the students marched together to Washington Square Park, where they were joined by NYU students.
Organizers spoke about the recent bombings in Khan Younis and the ongoing massacre in Gaza. By the end of the day, the crowd reached The New School.
Anti-Zionist Jews joined the entire Day of Action and the marches. in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza. Rabbi Dovid Feldman spoke at the final stop at the New Scholl (TNS) , addressing the crowd at The New School.
