Stop Starving Gaza: Montreal Protest Condemns Siege and Global Silence

A powerful emergency protest took place in Montreal, Canada, on July 30, 2025, organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) Montreal. Under the name of “Stop Starving Gaza” and “Lift the Siege Now,” thousands of demonstrators gathered in front of the Egyptian Consulate to urge the Egyptian government to take a stand in pressuring the Zionist regime to end the blockade on the Gaza Strip.

The protest was called in response to the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where widespread famine, lack of medical supplies, and ongoing violence have pushed the population to the brink. Protesters demanded immediate international action to halt the collective punishment of Palestinian civilians and called for accountability and justice.

Among the prominent voices at the demonstration was Rabbi Dovid Feldman, an outspoken anti-Zionist rabbi, who delivered a deeply emotional speech that resonated with the crowd. As he addressed the gathering, Rabbi Feldman broke down in tears, questioning the world’s silence in the face of the genocide.

Drawing a powerful parallel to the Holocaust with the story’s shared by our grandparents, he said the images coming out of Gaza today painfully reminded him of their suffering.

Rabbi Feldman concluded his speech by firmly stating that the Zionist movement does not represent Judaism or the Jewish people.

Following the speeches, the crowd marched through the streets of Montreal, carrying Palestinian flags and banners with messages of solidarity. thw thousands marched through the streets chanting “Judaism yes, Zionism no,” making clear their opposition to Zionism—not to Judaism.

The powerful demonstration sent a clear message: silence is complicity, and standing on the right side of history means standing with Gaza.
