A powerful press conference was held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the office of New Jersey Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin, bringing together pro-Palestinian organizations, human rights groups, and anti Zionist Jews to oppose the proposed adoption of the IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance) definition of antisemitism. The Press conference took place amid growing concerns that the legislation could criminalize or silence criticism of Israel’s policies, especially amid the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Organized by a coalition of civil rights and justice advocates, the press conference served as a unified call to reject the bill, emphasizing that protecting free speech is essential—particularly when speaking out against violence and injustice. Speakers stressed that the right to advocate for Palestinian dignity and human rights must be preserved, not punished.

Rabbi Dovid Feldman was among the prominent voices at the event. In his remarks Rabbi Feldman addressed the dangers such legislation poses to both Jews and Palestinians alike, adding that people of conscience should be able to speak up for Palestine and Gaza

The press conference concluded with a clear message: New Jersey must stand on the right side of history by defending free expression, rejecting the IHRA bill, and affirming that criticism of Zionism or Israeli government actions is not antisemitism—but an essential part of democratic discourse and moral responsibility.
