On May 6, 2025, while a hearing for Rumeysa Ozturk and Mohsen Mahdawi was underway, activists gathered in Foley Square to show their support for them, The crowd waited patiently for updates from the lawyers, who later addressed both the media and the assembled public.
Among the speeches delivered that day was an important reminder to pro-Palestinian students not to be intimidated by Zionist pressures, Rabbi Dovid Feldman, one of several speakers at the event, addressed the crowd, tackling the contentious issue of false accusations of anti-Semitism. Rabbi Feldman emphasized a critical distinction, clarifying that anti-Zionism is not synonymous with anti-Semitism.
